Helado
Italians have had an enormous influence on Argentinian customs and cuisine (in the early part of the 20th century, Italians migrated there in enormous numbers), and that influence extends to really, really good ice cream. The texture of the ice cream is like gelato, which I very much like. And more often than not, you’ll find flavors that incorporate dulce de leche in some way. Also a very good thing. Above is a flavor called torroncino, which was a vanilla ice cream with (what I can remember) a dulce de leche ribbon and chocolate-covered hazlenuts. It came from one of Argentina’s best heladerias, Un Altra Volta, although Freddo and Persicco are also rumored to be top contenders.
