Fugazzetta
Apparently Argentines created the stuffed pizza long before chains like Pizza Hut jumped on the bandwagon. Fugazzetta pizza has cheese baked into the crust, and then is topped with lots more cheese, and traditionally, cebollas (onions). We also added ham to our fugazzetta because we didn’t have a high enough fat content with all of the cheese. The cheese ooze might look disgusting, but really it tasted so, so good. We ate it at El Cuartito, Buenos Aires’ most famous pizza joint, where we also ate the empanada I mentioned yesterday. Besides the fugazzetta, we also ordered a pepperoni pie, and also a plane mozzarella one topped with more cebollas. Some major cebolla fans in our group (ahem, Matt). Check out this link for an idea of what El Cuartito looks like inside, and more pictures of its pies and empanadas.
